Taylor & Ryan

A Pittsburgh Wedding at The Frick

Even though I was there, and take these photos, it’s not until I have the image in front of me can I fully appreciate the moment I saw. You could say it’s because I’m there to capture the event and have a million other thing swirling in my mind (coordinating my team, making sure my C-cam and microphones are rolling, etc.), but I think it stands true for the couple, guests, really for everyone. Weddings are a whirlwind of one beautiful moment after the next, and time that would be spent absorbing something is lassoed away by a champagne toast, by a group photo, by some wild dancing. And that’s how it’s supposed to be. Roller coasters don’t stop after every turn to say, “that was pretty great, wasn’t it.” So in a way I think I’m describing a phenomenon we all experience. Which is looking at a photo gives us something a little more than we had while in that very same moment. I think that’s pretty special. After more than a decade of shooting weddings I’m still discovering these insights that only make me fall more and more in love with this job. Taylor & Ryan, thank you so much for having me!
